Lian and Poso

The communal conflicts in Poso, Central Sulawesi lasted from late 1998 to late 2001. It left the community devastated. Lian Gogali did a research on the women and children of Poso, the most vulnerable people to impacts of conflicts, for her thesis. Lian, now 40, was moved to do something. She established a women’s school which became the forerunner of Mosuntuwu Institute. Her goal: to spread messages of peace and unity through schools and culture festivals.
